System Overview

The ARB compressor fills the air tank. The tank distributes air to four places:

  1. Cab switch/gauge (to inflate/deflate airbags)

  2. Rear T-fitting (from the gauge - splits to both air bags)

  3. Bed quick-disconnect (for airing up tires/tools)

  4. Air horn solenoid (if equipped)

The ARB compressor shuts off automatically at 200 PSI—no pressure switch required.

Air Line Layout (Simple Explanation)

1. Compressor → Tank

ARB dual compressor output feeds directly into the 2.5-gallon tank.

2. Tank → Cab Gauge/Switch

One line runs into the cab to the switch (I mounted mine in the upper glovebox). This controls the inflation/deflation of the airbags. There are two ports on the switch (in/out).

3. Tank → Gauge/Switch → T-Fitting → Airbags

From the switch, one line runs along the frame rail to a T-fitting near the rear axle, then out to each air bag using the optional Air Lift breaded line kit.

4. Tank → Bed Quick-Disconnect

One line supplies the air chuck in the truck bed for airing tires.

5. Tank → Air Horn Solenoid (optional)

Electrical Setup

1. Power From Battery

Make sure 12V power is connected correctly at the battery.Ronnie explains this in this video (timestamp included): https://youtu.be/-ti14WeckGk?si=4kyicN8kon1s4nEF&t=902

DIY note:The ARB wiring harnesses plug into each other—this was confusing to me. It looked like there were two additional wiring harnesses - they simply connect together.

2. Use Upfitter/Aux Switches

Ford changed wire locations:

  • Pre-2020: Driver side, behind the battery, easy to reach

  • 2020+ (your truck): Passenger side, taped into a ball under the fuse box and wrapped in loom

Use your manual to identify the switch wiring.

My setup:

  • Switch #1: Marc’s 37.5” Grover Horn

  • Switch #2” Tricia’s 34” Grover Horn

  • Switch #3: ARB Compressor

  • Switch #6: Hitch lights

*Note: Switches #5 & #6 can be set to work with the truck OFF by moving a fuse)

3. Final Electrical Step

  • Connect the ARB 12V input to your chosen upfitter switch lead

  • Run that wire to the ARB compressor

  • Now you can turn the compressor on/off as needed from the cab
