KYD for the Ladies
Updated: Oct 5
Whether you’re packing for your next RV trip, looking for a new pair of jeans, or wondering which skincare and hair products are worth trying, you’ll find all of our favorites gathered here in one place.
Everything on this list is something we’ve actually purchased and used. Some of these are affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission if you shop through them, at no extra cost to you. This post isn’t sponsored - I’m just sharing what I use and like.
How This Blog Is Organized
If you’re looking for one of the numbered items from the episode, you’ll find those at the very bottom.
This blog is for everything else! I’ve organized the additional products into Clothes, Skincare + MedSpa, Makeup, Hair Care, and, of course, Marc’s two things. 😂
**There are still a few more things to add to this page, like shoes and workout clothes. Check back soon!
Clothes
Pants & Jeans:
Price Point: Low
Quince Jeans. I saw these jeans on so many Instagram accounts that I finally decided to order them. The price point is AMAZING, and they feel like good quality. They fit true to size to slightly roomy thanks to the stretch.
In full transparency, I haven’t washed them yet, but at this price, I’d be happy to get a couple of seasons out of them. They come in so many cuts, colors, and sizes, too!
RV trips tend to leave their mark on what you bring 😂 Unless we have plans to go somewhere nice, I usually leave my nicer clothes at home. With that disclaimer…here are my favorite jeans, hiking pants, jackets, shorts, tees and a sleep set that is soo soft!
Price Point: Mid
Madewell: The Perfect Vintage Jean
I wear a 25 in these, and they fit true to size.
They don’t have stretch, but they loosen up a little by the end of the day. I really like the Perfect Vintage cut! I also have an ivory straight-leg pair with a frayed hem that’s been a staple, for me, this season. They’re available in darker washes and longer lengths, too. The rise is slightly higher without feeling too high, and the waistband stays comfortably in place without leaving a gap in the back.
For RVing (and being 5’2”) I love the cropped length because the jeans don’t drag on the ground and they show off my sneakers. They’re ready for whatever…maybe not hiking 😂 But they’ve been great for drive days, cave tours, and dinner out.
Good American: Vintage Straight
I wear a 25 in these, and they fit true to size.
These jeans are on trend moving from high waists to mid and low rises. I don’t love how they gap in the back because of where they sit, but I like the style enough to fix that with a belt. They don’t have stretch, although they loosen up a little throughout the day—another reason for the belt! Love the wash, the traditional hem, and the length that shows off your sneakers.
Price Point High

MOTHER Jeans Classic going out to dinner or dress up jeans. I wear a 25 in these, and they fit true to size.
These are by far my favorite jeans. The cuts and pocket placement are so flattering, and they last! They’re definitely pricey, but if you live in your favorite jeans like I do, they’re worth it.
Of course, I can’t find my favorite pair anymore! The ankle length I loved has been replaced by their “’Lil” petite line, and that fit doesn’t work for me. So I either buy a pair with a frayed hem and cut them to length after a couple of washes, or I have them hemmed.
Here are a few cuts I really like: The Weekender and the Mid-rise Rambler, which is great for a shorter height without having a petite cut all over. A very comfortable, everyday jean with stretch. If they are out of stock on their site, you may be able to find them elsewhere.
Fancy pants 😂
Lululemon pants I really like for this season. The Daydrift Pant in the cropped length is incredible! They’re comfy and easy to pair with whatever you’re wearing. The “crop” makes them “regular” length on me, and they look a bit more put together than leggings. They come in regular lengths, too, with several cuts and styles to choose from.
They’re stretchy, so I could have gone with an XS, but I got a small because I didn’t want the back pocket outlines showing through.
Hiking Pants 🥾

These KUHL hiking pants are well-priced, and I’ve had mine for several years. They’ve been washed many times and are still in great shape!
Marc also wears KUHL hiking pants. Well, he wears these pants for pretty much everything, including hiking.
Jean Shorts
The Parker Long Short is my favorite jean shorts. I have them in white and denim. They're not too long and not too short. You can even cuff them if you'd like them shorter.
As for the exact color name, I'm guessing its the Fairway (there are a lot to choose from) and the white is likely Panna Cotta.
Hangout & Sleepwear

Athleta Seasoft Mid Rise 4" Short
It’s nice to have a matching set for sleeping, hanging out, or rolling out of bed to take your dog for a walk without wearing pajama pants (no shade, we do it all the time too 😂). I have a few others, but these are soooo soft!
Here is the link to the top. Disregard what the model is wearing, as there is no long-sleeve undershirt.
FYI: Athleta tends to run large. I got an XS in these sets.
Tank Tops
Tanks are some of the most requested items, probably because you see me wearing them all the time! They’re just so versatile for travel, especially during the summer, and they’re great for layering when the weather cools down.
Over the years, I’ve found some great options at different price points. Some are inexpensive favorites that I’ll wear for a season, while others, like my Madewell tanks, cost a little more but are higher quality and tend to last longer.
Madewell: The Essential Tank in Utility Rib
And then there's my go-to $9 tank from Amazon that is a bit more see-through, but you can't beat the price!
Tee's
These two tees from Aritzia have become what I call “wardrobe openers.” One is boxy and relaxed, while the other is tighter (size up!), but both can completely change how something in your closet works.
They’ll either give a classic outfit a more updated look or finally let you wear that jacket, sweater or pair of pants that just needed the right tee underneath.
Simple, essential wardrobe staples that open up a lot more options in your closet.
The pictured tee is the InterLock Cotton Function T-Shirt and the tighter one is the Original Contour Marvel Crew T-Shirt
Jackets
There’s a reason so much of the country is beautifully green…it rains! A good rain jacket is a camping essential, and finding one that goes with all your camping clothes makes packing a little easier. Here are a few of my favorites.
The Helly Hansen is my pick for real rain protection; the other two are light layers for breezy days and a little drizzle. All were ordered in small.
For windbreakers that have some shape, I recently got the Cross Chill Performance Jacket from Lulu. You'll see it on the channel soon, but I'm loving it so far! There's another jacket from Lulu that is more of a drizzle windbreaker. Many people have asked so this is a good place to link it.
And we won't count this toward Marc's "two things", but you've seen his navy Helly Hansen jacket for years.
Skincare & MEDSpa
Info on Sun Spots and More
Many of you have been asking for a link to the product I used for my sun spots, but there isn’t a product. What made the difference for me was finding the right treatment.
And this is important: not every treatment is right for every type of skin or sun damage. In fact, the wrong treatment can actually make sun spots worse. I’ve shared my sun spot journey below, including some of the mistakes I made along the way, so I really encourage you to read this entire section before deciding what might be right for you.
I have melasma, which causes dark spots and uneven patches that become more noticeable in the sun—hence the constant need for a hat. Hormonal changes, including pregnancy and menopause, can trigger it, too. (aad.org)
I originally wanted to try BBL HERO, which uses pulses of BroadBand Light to target sunspots, freckles, and redness. MOXI is a nonablative fractional laser that improves uneven pigmentation, skin tone, and texture. Because light-based treatments can potentially worsen melasma, BBL HERO wasn’t a good fit for my skin, so I chose MOXI instead. (sciton.com)
Before the treatment, they numbed my face. The laser felt like rubber bands snapping against my skin, followed by what felt like a very bad sunburn for the first few hours. I was told to avoid sun exposure for two weeks. On the first day, I didn’t look like I’d had much done, but peeling started afterward, so I skipped makeup and used only hydrating serums and sunscreen. I’ve had one treatment so far, and I’ll be going back for a second treatment to hopefully fade more of those stubborn dark spots. The first treatment removed the crepey layer of dry, surface-level skin that moisturizer can’t seem to reach, smoothing the fine lines along with it.
I’ve also tried Tixel, which uses heat to resurface the skin. I tried it before I understood that it wasn’t a good fit for my skin, although it may work well for someone else. (tixelmed.com)
A little caution before booking a med spa treatment: talk with your dermatologist. Really, this isn’t just a basic warning—I used treatments that weren’t right for me and ended up worsening what I wanted to change. Some treatments can irritate your skin and make pigmentation worse. Tell your provider what you’re hoping to address when visiting the dermatologist and then a med spa, and make sure you don’t have underlying issues that need to be addressed, such as precancerous skin areas, melasma (like me), or something else specific to you or your stage of life. What works beautifully for a friend may not be right for your skin.
The “freezing” treatment I mention in the video is technically called cryotherapy, or cryosurgery. The dermatologist uses liquid nitrogen to freeze a specific spot, including precancerous patches called actinic keratoses. The treated area may blister or crust before it heals. (aad.org)
Make-up & Sunscreen
Let’s talk about a few of my favorite makeup products. Start with your favorite serum or moisturizer, followed by sunscreen. Then I always grab my IT Cosmetics CC cream. A little goes a long way, and I use the version without shimmer. Next comes a cream blush and a cream bronzer. I’ve really enjoyed switching to cream products, especially when we’re RVing and my skin needs a little extra moisture. They feel comfortable and light on my skin, without that powdery makeup feel. These are the ones I reach for! I like these two choices for brow cream, and I like this pencil from Chanel, I use it with my chapstick 😂
Jones Road: The Brow Gel
If you have fuller brows, this gel glides on beautifully, keeps everything in place and lasts all day.
If your brows are a little thinner or you want more definition, try the Benefit brow gel instead. The smaller spool gives you a little more control and makes it easier to define the brow without overdoing it.
If you watched KYD for the Ladies, you may remember me mentioning that I’m allergic to traditional mascara.
This Thrive mascara has been a game changer because instead of coating your lashes like traditional mascara, it creates tiny tubes around each lash. It stays put all day, then slides right off with warm water at night. No makeup remover needed!

If you want to try this, start with the mini! I like the shade “Happy Hour.” At first, it felt like I was putting chapstick on my face, and I wasn’t sure I liked it. But I kept reaching for it because it gave my face an instant pop of color and a little shine without shimmer. It grew on me and I really like it.
This bronzer gives you a beautiful, natural glow without any scent. A little goes a long way, so start light and build until you get the color you want. I use it on my face, but you can also blend it onto your neck, shoulders and décolletage for a little extra color with summer dresses.
Hair Care
Shampoo & Conditioner
Price Point (low)
Pure Zero. You can now find this at Target and Whole Foods. It’s cheaper there, but here is a link on Amazon for convenience.
Pure Zero also makes a hair hydration and protection.
Price Point: High

I’m a big fan of Kevin Murphy, WOW and Moroccanoil products. Below are a few of my favorites that I use regularly.
I’ve linked them through Amazon for convenience, but it’s always worth checking the brands’ websites too since they often run their own promotions and discounts.
The Amazon links are affiliate links, which don’t add any cost to you.
Looks like Marc might be closer to 5 things now 😂 In his defence, I bought this for him, but he's asked for it again. Kevin Murphy hair styling paste.
My Hair Stylist Recs
Scottsdale, AZ
Michael Spears at Sachi Salon. I’ve known Michael the longest, and he’s always fun to chat with. He has an assistant, which helps the appointment move along quickly. What I appreciate most is how careful he is with color. My hair has actually gotten healthier over time because he doesn’t overprocess it.
Flagstaff, AZ
Holly is a talented stylist with her own private studio. For as long as I’ve known her, she’s been sharpening her craft—attending events and seminars to learn new techniques and stay current with what’s happening in the industry. I love that she keeps learning!
St. Pete, FL
Misty Little at Loft 7: Misty is a newer find, and she did a beautiful job building on the color I’ve had for years while helping me simplify the process. We’re moving toward one color step that blends my natural hair with highlights and lowlights, and I’m really happy with how it’s coming together.
Mahjong
I bought an inexpensive set of tiles from Hobby Lobby and use this travel bag, which works great for keeping everything together and makes it easy to take on the road, or at home.
If you’re looking for a complete set that includes the tiles and racks, this Amazon option is a good one. Just know that it does not include a mat.
I’m not saying they make Mahjong easy 😂, but these are by far the clearest instructions I’ve found so far.
KYD's Reading List
These are some of the books that have influenced the way we think about life, business, money, health, relationships and accomplishing big things.
Whether you’re chasing a big goal or simply looking for a few ideas to make life even better, there’s a lot of wisdom in this list.
Marc’s two things 😂

Warning: It's hard to wear anything else after you get this! But you might not have to because this belt is so durable.
And Marc's other item was his KUHL hiking pants, but he wears them for just about everything!

Could you please link or share the brand of that pink flannel shacket you wore on your visit to Isle Royale NP? 🙏
Love this episode! Thanks for doing this—I know it’s outside the “usual” content. Could you share what bra you wear under those Madewell tanks? I assume it requires racerback? Sorry I know this is so specific. Love KYD!!
Thanks! I too love my ladies stretchy Arcade belt.
Trish-Thank you so much for posting these! I am often wondering what brands you are wearing and love your clothing style. It aligns with how I like to dress as well! Anyone reading my comments that also likes some of what Trish is suggesting might want to pop over and take a look at Poshmark for some of the brands! You can find people that have items NWT (new with tags) and if you know your size you can get heavy discounts on items that are brand new! It is a great way to get all the latest and greatest without spending a ton! I love this community of travelers so much!! Thanks again Trish (and Marc 😀 )
Thank you for sharing all of these things. So helpful! I actually just got the Madewell hat on clearance while out of town and was so excited.
Can you please share a link to Marc’s crocs? I want to get for my husband for Christmas.
