January of last year marked the beginning of Keep Your Daydream’s (KYD) Mexico adventures (Season 2). It was then when I happen to coin the phrase “Stairs Up.”
Anyone who has an RV or has been around them knows the work it takes to get ready for a trip! After you plan, pack, and hook up the rig the final step is to close the door and fold up those stairs. For us, “Stairs Up” means: lets go! It’s one of my favorite things to do because it means our family will be seeing new things, meeting new people and making memories that I know will last.
From small trips to life-changing big ones they all start somewhere. The one thing in common? They have to start! The quote by Zig Ziglar helps us take an idea from our mind and brings it into reality. “You don’t have to be great to start you just have to start to be great.” All great adventures start somewhere. That’s why KYD stands for starting where you are and with what you have.
We stand for this mantra because the perfect dream doesn’t usually get started. That’s the tricky part about life. Life is happening while we are planning! We have to jump at opportunities, because we don’t know when a window will close or the road will take an unexpected twist.
KYD receives literally hundreds of emails and comments each month. They are so wonderful! Filled with happiness and tales of exploration. Unfortunately, there are also some that break our hearts and bring tears to our eyes. Stories that share of a lost spouse or a regret that time has unveiled. These are the letters that propel us to continue when the day is long or things do not go as planned.
Starting a dream is always the biggest step. Moving from what we know to the unknown. It is important to remember, in this prelude, that when we change we grow and, when we grow we have more to share and, when we share we are adding to the momentum of life expanding.
As we move from 2017 to 2018 and remember all we are grateful for, our wins and losses, those we love and miss, it is time to start brainstorming the new. What will 2018 hold for you? We will be thinking about you at KYD. Hoping you have a “Stairs Up” mentality for 2018 and start the next chapter of what is most important to you.

Tori showed us a fun new app that makes a video, of the year, by using a single picture from everyday. It’s called Leap Second – A free one second every day video journal app. We’ve learned that documenting the adventure makes travel even more rewarding and looking back is just as fun. We watched videos from the previous year that seem to escape our memories completely!
