We weren’t planning to film an updated RV setup video, but when our campsite threw us a few curveballs (in every category), it felt like the perfect opportunity to hit record. Especially with Caleb still with us to help out and keep things rolling.

Most setup steps are flexible, but a few have a very specific order, and messing with that order can cause real problems. Like forgetting to chock before unhooking. Or not checking for obstacles before deploying your slides.

In this episode, we walk you through our entire towable RV setup process, show you the gear we use (and how to use it), and share some simple tips that can actually make setup fun. Yes, really!

RV Newbie Essential Gear List 

If you’re an RV Newbie, the amount of gear needed to get started can feel overwhelming. We’ve added all the essential gear to help you get started and a few non-essential items that will help make RV Life a little easier.

It’s best to first get everything you need for water, electrical and sewer hook-ups (those are truly the essentials) and then take a look at some of the items such as chairs and wagons that are “nice to have”.
