About the Episode

About our Adventure
Before you listen to the KYD podcast, be aware that your dreams just might happen sooner than you expected! That’s exactly what happened through weekly inspiration of hearing 60+ stories (at the time) before we decided to pick a date and turn “Someday into Today”.
Our dream to sail around the world was just too far away and we were tired of waiting, so we asked ourselves what we could do now that will bring us closer to our ultimate dream. The answer was RV’ing. So we bought a 28′ travel trailer, decluttered the house and worked on the business to become “location independent”. Season 1 (as we refer to it now) is a six month trip around the States & Canada with our 3 kids and 16 year old Golden Retriever.

I have been watching your videos for some time now and just love your family and how you live life to the fullest! We have had the dream for a couple of years now, but like all newbies, we are struggling getting started. We start and stop (not by choice) a lot. Thank you so much for your encouragement and help with hopefully making our dream come true. We camp now in our 20 foot R-Pod when time allows and can’t wait to make it a more permanent part of our lives.

Hi ya’ll, we have been watching your videos for several months and I am working my way through all four seasons now. I know you are going to Alaska this summer which is on my bucket list to go back there. It is such an awesome adventure! We witnessed a seal giving birth on an iceberg in front of the cruise ship we were on! Talk about perfect timing. If you get a chance take a day trip on Wings of Alaska in Juneau, Alaska. A bit pricey for sure but it is a trip to remember! Seaplane flight was the best I have ever been on landing on the Taku River and spending the day on the Taku Lodge next to the Taku Glacier. We were there in 2007 and I have such vivid memories. Lots of pictures too. Keep up the fantastic daydream! Your children are so lucky to be on such an adventure as they are. Lifetime memories for them for sure. Not mention how much more they are learning actually seeing historical sites in person. Teaching by seeing and doing.

Marc and Tricia, my wife and I love your channel. She and I have been dreaming of going fulltime for about 4 years, but I’m active duty with a few years left until retirement. We just got orders to Japan and are planning on starting a channel to chronicle our military lifestyle and travels overseas leading up to my retirement. I just want to say thank you for your inspiration, and all the tips and how-to videos. We can’t wait to get on the road, but we have one last big life obstacle to get through before we can.

Your videos are fantastic as is the entertainment value and information you present. As a long time RV’er I couldn’t help but notice in the Boston episode you drove in the tunnel complex and would like to remind your viewers that RV’s contains propane which are as the signs say is dangerous prohibited cargo. The fines are steep (in the thousands). Best go around the city ( I95 / 128) usually faster too. FYI: Many of the roads exiting the tunnel complex can’t accommodate longer or taller RV’s and, as you may have noticed, Boston drivers can make your driving experience miserable. Just curious, when driving from Burlington VT to Maine you had to traverse the White Mountain National Forrest and the Presidential Mountain Range and never noted it.??? Awesome Job, Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Marc and Tricia Thank you for all of your positive posts on RV traveling. My husband Doug and myself have talked about RV living for some time now and we DID it, Bought a 2019 ultra lite camper . Doug is ready to retire in @ 2 years so for now we are planning to take short trips to get accustomed to life in a RV. Between the both of us we have a Bucket list to work through. Thank you so much for the inspiration . We are super excited to start our new adventure and we hope to get a chance to meet up with your family. all of you are AWESOME !!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

I just heard my first podcast and LOVED IT! I was referred to your Website by a friend and can’wait to hear more about your adventures. My husband and I love adventures and are hoping to incorporate more traveling into our vrery near future. We spent 2 1/2 years in the Middle East (UAE) for My husband’s job and it was the most amazing experience of our lives. We are stateside now and would like to focus on seeing America. Thank you guys for sharing your adventures (and especially for addressing the fear of change that can eclipse dreams). Thx again and I look forward to learning from you! Carron Smoak

Hi Tricia & Marc – Thank you for the sharing your adventures and insights (and positive motivation).
I was thrown into new work situation (Remote Project Management!) and moving forward able to go mobile with the Family (wife, daughter 2 yrs, and two fun loving pups). We always loved traveling and wanted to see more of North America, but were limited due to $, vacation time & family visit trips to Michigan & Mexico (we live in AZ).
Ran into your videos while learning more about RV life style and how to stay connect / balanced.
With the job change Janet & I jumped in to the change with a used truck and 5th wheel and are excited to get moving. Test trip is done and we’re working through piles of ‘stuff’ which doesn’t need to be in storage. 8/1/2018 or earlier we’ll be moving. The new clarity is great! Keep enjoying!
Love your series.
Did I miss how you acquired the original Ginger?
What do you do for a living that lets you take your work on the road?
Also, you will hear many ways to pronounce New Orleans, but I believe you had it right the first time “New Or-lens”. (not New Orleenz nor New Or-Lee-ens). Some locals even say N’Awlins!
That was before we officially started the channel. We have footage, but never edited it and now we don’t have time 🙂
Hello Just found you all on youtube, glad I did. We have a small travel trailer(looking at bigger ones with a garage) and we love camping. May I ask how you find places to camp other than campgrounds? Thank you for all the information especially the solar.

If you are traveling through western Pennsylvania this summer on your way to nova Scotia and need a place to stay for a night or 2 let me know i can supply electric water and sewage

Just came upon your site and videos, and can’t stop watching! I’m a teacher…hopefully retiring within the next 8 years (due to location change, I’ve had to work longer)…but, would like to turn permanent rv’ing with my husband a sooner than later dream. What do you for a living? Like I said, I’m a teacher and my husband is in construction (self-employed). How can we turn what we do into on the road careers? Any ideas?
Never stop dreaming!
I love your videos

Thank you!! Camp Gulf is right down the road from our house. We are in the infancy of talking about doing what you have done. I love how you shared your decision process – sailing around the world – to letting go – house, books, boat, surfboard (the same things for us!) – is helping me. We want to…but it’s a huge change! Right now, we’re thinking of summer travel only and see what happens… 🙂 Thank you, Trish and Marc! I really appreciate you and Keep Your Daydream.

I have decided that I am going to be taking my family on this amazing RV journey, (Daughter 14, Wife, and I). I am inspired by your blog/videos, and cannot wait to make the change. We have a date of 6/1/2024 as this will put our 3 older children who do not want to travel graduated. I am preparing now, and will be following you guys on your adventures via online until I can meet you on the road.

Question – We’ve been following you for awhile. Where are you now? Still traveling full time? Did you sell your house 5 years ago? Or Rent it out?

My wife and I discovered your videos a few months ago and have slowly been watching all of them. You are so inspiring! We are set to retire in about a year or so, and have learned lots from you. We have a Class A and I am a teacher, so we are out in it most of the summer for now. Keep posting so we can see what you are up to now.
