KYD’S QUICK GUIDE TO ESTES, CO
Estes Colorado is known for the Rocky Mountain National Park, hiking and wildlife, but the wildlife is not just in the National Park, it’s everywhere. Elk roam the RV parks, streets and even hang out in front of restaurants.
The town of Estes is not as charming as other Colorado towns we’ve visited this season, but still nice. The river that runs alongside Main Street is relaxing to watch with a cup of coffee or wait for a table when eating out. The Estes fairgrounds is also great for all ages and dogs. We ate at Bird and Jim’s (highly recommend) and stayed at Manor RV park, but would likely stay at Spruce Lake RV park next time.

Laura’s Fudge is a must stop for us every weekend we go to Estes. The Dunraven and Antonio’s pizza are both very good. Love to feed the chipmunks on top of the old ski hill. Excellent golfing

Yes to all of these – and don’t neglect to stop at Cinnamon’s bakery for the very best cinnamon rolls you’ll ever have.

Do you vacuum out the fire pot on the Traeger on a regular basis? If not, that is probably what is causing it to “catch on fire”. If the fire pot is full of ashes, the burning pellets are right next to where the auger feeds it.

We are planning a July 2021 trip to Colorado and we are looking at staying at Manor RV Park. I saw your comments on wanting to staying at Spruce Lake RV Park instead of Manor RV Park. Can you provide any additional information on why you like Spruce Lake RV Park over Manor RV Park? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My Traeger Scout had issues too until I learned that I needed to vacuum it out each time I used it. I also keep the grill pan clean by washing it and replacing the heavy-duty foil after each use. I keep a small shop vac just for my Traeger. I also learned that the temp fluctuates as not to panic. I use my internal temp probe and check it often as my meat is always done much sooner than what the recipe calls for. My meat is always delicious so I have become one with my Traeger. It took us a little while to get to know each other. Keep us posted! Love your Channel,

We have the Traeger Ranger and keep a small whisk broom to clean out that pellet dust. Yes, the temperature fluctuates as you cook, that’s part of the process; we have a WiFi meat thermometer that is the most important part of smoking!
Love this video and wish we were in Colorado right now!

Thanks for the tips. We arrived in Estes on Sunday, the day this video came out. Fun to see what you did, and what there is to do while we’re here this week

Love the quick guide. This area is on our list for this summer.

We are considering Manor RV park on our trip. I am wondering why you would not recommend it?

This location was so beautiful! We tent camp so I don’t think snow on the ground would work for us, but it’s so beautiful I’m trying to map out where you went with the great details you’ve shared. Thanks so much for sharing all your wonderful tips. I especially appreciate when you mention where you’ve eaten gluten free meals because two of my kids have Celiac so we can only go to restaurants with options for everyone. We leave for our 2 week road/camping trip in a week. We like to reserve some and not reserve some like you guys. We’re from CA and thought we’d head towards Yellowstone but include other stops. I see you just mentioned you’re headed that way too. I’m so excited that you’re getting there ahead of us and that we’ll hopefully get some more awesome tips from you. Thanks so much! Ps. Your kids are awesome. I love their sense of humor. We have 4 kids and my boys are about your boys’ age and we have 2 younger girls. Happy travels! 💗

Think twice about swimming in Rocky – the biggie is: LEECHES. Also, sunscreens, etc. are not good for the purity of the water.

Loving the Quick Guide!

Good suggestions! There is always more to explore in ROMO and in Estes Park Could you correct the name of the town please, it is Estes Park, not just Estes, although some of us use Estes as shorthand.

You guys are amazing! Love your videos. We’re planning a quick trip to get out of the heat of Tucson, where we’ve been stuck, due to covid. Love the recommendations for Estes Park, as that’s going to be one of our stops. We’re also planning on Alaska next summer, based on your trip there. We’re very excited about that! Keep up the good work. We’ll be watching for you!
